My Services
I provide Professional Generalist Counselling Services that includes, but is not limited to, the following conditions …
Grief
This is the normal process of reacting to a loss. The loss may be physical (such as a death), social (such as divorce), or occupational (such as a job). Emotional reactions of grief can include anger, guilt, anxiety, sadness, despair, and depression.
Anxiety
It is normal and healthy to feel anxious from time to time, and this can even be helpful in some instances. However, if anxiety is impacting on your day to day life, or if you are beginning to avoid people, places, or social events, then it may be a good idea to seek professional help. Some physical symptoms can include apprehension, heart palpitations, fear, and an inability to think clearly.
Depression
People experience depression in different ways. For example, it can interfere with an ability to work each day, resulting in time off. Depression can also have an adverse effect on relationships and long-term health conditions. Anyone can experience feel down at times, but if this is getting worse or becomes more regular, then they should seek help. Symptoms vary from a loss of appetite, feeling sad, anxious, or low mood; to feelings of hopelessness, helplessness, or worthlessness; to social withdrawal, unusual fatigue, or sleep disturbance; with trouble concentrating, or irritability. A person may also experience persistent physical problems such as headaches, digestive disorders, chronic pain, thoughts of death, or suicide.
Chronic Pain
This is pain that persists or progresses over a long period of time. In contrast to acute pain that arises suddenly in response to a specific injury and is usually treatable, chronic pain persists over time and is often resistant to medical treatments.
Eating Disorders
Behavioural Disorders
Behavioural disorders encompass an array of disruptive behaviours in children that last for at least six months and cause problems with school, home, or in social situations. These disruptive behaviours can include inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, or defiant behaviour.
Autism Spectrum Disorder
This is a condition related to brain development that impacts how a person perceives and socialises with others, causing problems in social interaction and communication. The disorder includes limited and repetitive patterns of behaviour.
Trauma
The result of an event, ordeal, or set of circumstances that is experienced by an individual as physically or emotionally harmful or threatening and that can have lasting adverse effects on their functioning and physical, social, and emotional well-being.
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
This can develop when an individual has been exposed to a terrifying event or ordeal in which grave physical harm occurred or was threatened. People that have PTSD can feel a heightened sense of danger and their inner “fight-or-flight” response is altered whereby they feel fearful or threatened even when they are are perfectly safe. PTSD can occur in people of any age.
